New Park Coming to Tallahassee

TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Concept proposals are underway as the City Commission looks to approve plans for the new Debbie Lightsey Nature Park.

The Tallahassee City Commission will be reviewing the concept proposal for the new park, which a $50,000 design was approved for last fall.

The new nature park is set to be located between Blounstown Highway and Orange Avenue near the east side of Capital Circle NW/SW .

According to information from the Intergovermental Agency meeting agenda, the site and surrounding area provide habitat for a variety of native flora and fauna. The site is also part if the Wakulla Springs Basin which is known for its pristine beauty and diverse wildlife.

The park is named after Commissioner Debbie Lightsey in recognition of her service to the community and dedication to protecting the environment.

The IA will meet next week to approve of the park's concept.
