TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Leon County's new superintendent and two school board members were officially sworn in Tuesday.
While Rocky Hanna beat out incumbent Jackie Pons and two others in the November general election for the superintendent position, both Rosanne Wood and Dee Dee Rasmussen won their school board seats in the August primary.
Rasmussen is back for another term, while Wood joins the board for the first time.
Wood retired in 2010 after more than 30 years as principal of SAIL High School.
She said she ran for the District 2 seat to help contribute to the district's success, given her experience.
Wood said there's been too much focus on standardized testing and school grades. It's an area she'd like to address in her new role.
"We don't just care about test scores," she said. "We care about children learning, and school should be fun. I want kids and teachers to look forward to going to school every day, and I think we can bring that energy, and I'm going to try to help bring that energy to the school board."
