TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) -- Future elections will run more smoothly now that the "Ion Sancho Leon County Election Center" is open. The building is named in honor of former Supervisor of Elections, Ion Sancho.

Capital city residents were in attendance to watch the ribbon cutting ceremony and get a tour of the new facility. Instead of managing five locations, the new facility will help increase efficiency and improve oversight. Citizens will have more security, as well as employees, with all their resources in one building.

The Supervisor of Elections, Mark Earley, states "Also, we've got much better training facilities here. It's been very tough to train more than a thousand poll workers we have to deploy every election cycle."

County election employees say they have been working towards this for over five years. They have worked hard to accomplish the new facility and are proud of it.
