TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - A local non-profit organization is helping teachers grant their students access to unique resources and opportunities focused on the arts.

The Council on Culture and Arts (COCA) have invited arts teachers to apply to the new grant they are offering. The awarded funds may be used towards supplies, equipment, field trips, or other costs related to the arts.

Teachers who apply must teach during the traditional school day and focus primarily on dance, drama/theater, film/media arts, music, or visual art. COCA said each applicant may request up to $500.

“For many years, we have wanted to initiate a grant program like this,” said COCA’s Education Director Amanda Karioth Thompson. “There are so many outstanding arts educators in our community doing really impressive things and we’re thrilled to be able to support their efforts in this new way.”

The deadline to apply for the grant is Oct. 28th. To learn more about this opportunity click here.
