JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Another giraffe has been born at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens.
Zoo officials tell The Florida Times-Union (http://bit.ly/1BCVYjm ) that the 193-pound female calf was born Jan. 17. It's now on exhibit in the zoo's Giraffe Overlook.
The calf was 6 feet 2 inches tall at birth. It's a reticulated giraffe, with large brown spots.
Zoo officials say it's the fourth calf for the mother, Naomi, and the fourteenth for the calf's father, Duke. Now the zoo has nine giraffes, four of which are under 2 years old.
