New Georgia Report says 99 Child Deaths Result of Maltreatment in 2014

GEORGIA (WTXL) - The Georgia Bureau of Investigation has released their Georgia Child Fatality Review Annual report for 2014 Thursday.

They found there were a total of 503 child deaths that were review-able in 2014.

A child's death is eligible for review when the death is sudden, unexpected, unexplained, suspicious, or attributed to unusual circumstances.

The report found five review-able deaths in Lowndes County, two in Thomas County and three in Colquitt.

Of the 503 reviewed in the report, 99 were a result of maltreatment, 158 were sleep-related, and 243 were a result of injuries.
