TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Tuesday kicked off a project impacting four counties in Florida.
The Freight Logistics Zone Project would effect Gadsden, Liberty, Franklin, and Gulf counties.
The new freight zone will help move goods in and out of the area.
Officials say the project will greatly help North Florida, specifically rural areas.
They say the "Gulf to Gadsden" freight logistics zone is designed to make use of the Apalachicola Northern Railway, and provide an economic boost for the areas involved.
The railway connects the port of Port St. Joe in Gulf County with the CSX class I railroad in Gadsden County.
