TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - Leon County and City of Tallahassee officials have appointed a new director for the Planning, Land Management, and Community Enhancement (PLACE) department.
Ben Pingree was appointed to the position and will begin on February 1.
The position oversees the joint County/City department. Pingree also will be the lead in Blueprint 2000, the organization that administers projects that are funded by the one sent sales tax including Cascades Park and the FAMU Way reconstruction.
County officials say Pingree studied at FSU and Boston University and as held titles such as County Administrator and CEO.
"As part of the Leon County / City of Tallahassee team, I'm eager to return to public service for the community I call home. After nearly 20 years of management and leadership across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, I can say I look forward to leading planning efforts that will shape our County and City for generations to come," said Pingree in a statement released by the county.
