TALLAHASSEE, FL (WTXL) - FSU has now released details on how one worker died while working at the MagLab Wednesday.

Glenn Nix worked as a mechanical trades technician.

Nix was working on a new magnet under construction in the lab's Direct Current Field Facility when the incident occurred.

The crew was working on the part that supplies cooling water to the magnet during operation.

Officials with the university say crew members were attempting to remove a steel cap from the end of the water supply pipe when the cap pushed forward, striking Nix.

According to officials, magnets in the lab's DC Field Facility are connected to cooling water pipes. The facility was immediately shut down, an all-hands staff meeting was called and grief counselors were on-site.

The Maglab's facilities and safety teams believe the incident remained within the magnet construction area. There was no threat to others.

Autopsy results are not currently available.

FSU police department is expected to release an official investigative report soon.
