TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)- Natural Life held it's grand opening Saturday.
The CBD (cannabidiol) dispensary is the first of it's kind in north Florida. CBD is an all-natural pain killer that contains trace amounts of THC and customers don't need a medical prescription to buy it. It is hemp-derived CBD which has below 0.3% THC.
Store managers say they decided to open the hemp flower shop in the Capital City to provide access to CBD products and educate people about it's benefits.
"It's is an all natural alternative. That's why the store's name is 'Natural Life,'" said Natural Life supplier Alex Petrick. "We give an alternative to synthetic pain killers. We conduct interviews and we collect surveys of people getting a medical benefit from CBD supplements. We educate the public on what signs there is out there from reputable sources that me and you paid for as taxpayers."
According to a 2015 study by the National Institute on Drug Abuse, CBD has anti-seizure effects, helps with anxiety and can be used to treat substance abuse disorders.
