New billboard in Amarillo says 'Texas is for everyone'

AMARILLO, TX (KFDA) - After a controversial billboard was constructed and taken down last week in Amarillo, a new billboard is singing a different tune.

A billboard outside of Vega telling "liberals" to leave Texas gained considerable traction on social media and was shared hundreds of times on Facebook.

Burkett Outdoor Advertising, the company that owns the billboard, later took the sign down and issued a refund to the client who had paid for it.

Amarillo citizens who disagreed with the original billboard's message took to GoFundMe to fund construction of a new sign.

The campaign outraised its original goal by over $1000 within 24 hours.

The new billboard is displayed at the digital Lamar billboard near I-40 and Coulter Avenue.
