TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - A new bill approved by the Florida House would allow for more secrecy during presidential searches conducted by state colleges and universities.
The House approved by a vote of 104-9 a measure that would allow college and university boards to meet in secret to review candidates for their presidencies, and withhold the names of finalists.
Under Once finalists are chosen, the boards would have to release the names 10 days before a vote. The legislation is being pushed at a time when both Florida State University and the University of Florida are searching for new presidents, and FAMU has just welcomed a new President after more than a year of searching.
