ATLANTA, Ga. (WTXL) - State officials say nearly 150,000 Georgians have signed up for health insurance under the federal marketplace.
State Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens released the new data reflecting enrollment under the Affordable Care Act. Hudgens says his office aggregated data from Alliant, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Humana, Kaiser, and Peach State.
Those insurers received more than 221,600 applications, and received premiums for policies covering 149,465 people. Hudgens also says many Georgians finished their applications on time, but have yet to pay for their coverage.
More than 104,200 people will be insured by policies subsidized by the federal government.
