Defunct toy retailer Toys "R" Us is reportedly plotting a comeback, with plans for six stores to open nationwide by the end of the year.

According to a Bloomberg report , the revamped Toys "R' Us stores would be 10,000 square feet, or one-third the average size of previous stores. The report states that the new stores will offer experiences such as a play area.

The report says Richard Barry, the CEO of Tru Kids Inc., presented the plan to industry executives earlier this week. Barry is reportedly pitching toymakers on a revamped Toys "R" Us.

Toys "R" Us will face even steeper competition than it faced when it filed for bankruptcy. Stores such as Walmart and Target have expanded their toy selections.
