ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — A 21-year-old South Carolina man has been convicted in the slaying of a University of Michigan medical student during a robbery near the school's Ann Arbor campus.
A Washtenaw County Circuit Court jury on Tuesday found Joei Jordan guilty of first-degree felony murder, home invasion and conspiracy to commit home invasion.
The Sumter, South Carolina, man faces a mandatory penalty of life in prison without parole at his sentencing March 11.
Twenty-five-year-old Paul DeWolf was attending medical school on an Air Force scholarship when he was shot during a 2013 robbery at the medical fraternity where he lived.
Dajeon Franklin and Shaquille Jones, both 22, were convicted earlier in DeWolf's death. Franklin is serving life without parole for first-degree murder. Jones is serving 25 to 50 years for second-degree murder.
