Around 100 American Airlines flight attendants and at least 600 Southwest employees have tested positive for COVID-19, according to WFAA.

Association of Professional Flight Attendants, the union for American Airlines attendants, and TWU Local 556, the union for Southwest attendants, told ABC affiliate WFAA that hundreds of employees have tested positive and they expect that number to rise.

According to CNN, APFA says that American Airlines has "agreed to start providing face masks for frontline team members while at work should you choose to wear one."

On Monday, TWU Local 556 sent a letter to FAA and OSHA outlining their concerns for workers' health and safety.

American Airlines has been tight-lipped about the reports, only telling WFAA that "some" of its employees have tested positive. Southwest denied the claims and told the media outlet that "far less than 1 percent" of the company's employees have tested positive.

Last month, American Airlines confirmed that a Philadelphia-based flight attendant died after contracting COVID-19.
