(WTXL) — After 2-year-old toddler was abandoned with a bag of clothes and a note at a Mississippi Goodwill on Monday, police say a suspect in the case has been arrested.
Monday afternoon, the Southaven Police department announced that the child is doing well, is being taken care of and will "be reunited with family when CPS determines this is proper."
"Thank you to all of the citizens who offered tips regarding the suspects in this case," police wrote on social media. "The cooperation from the community and a unified effort from law enforcement led to the speedy apprehension of suspects."
Southaven Police report Monday, around 9:40 a.m., a child was abandoned at the Goodwill drop off location at 57 Stateline Road East in Southaven.
Nearby surveillance video captured images of both a male and female and the vehicle they were driving when the child was abandoned. By time officers arrived, the car was gone.
Police said the child, a 2-year-old boy, was unable to give his name or the names of his parents or relatives. The child was left with nothing but a plastic bag containing a change of clothes and a note.
Authorities have not revealed what was written inside the note nor have they identified the suspect who was arrested in the case.
