Body of missing 5-year-old boy with autism found in water in Montcalm County, authorities confirm

SIX LAKES, Mich. — UPDATE: The body of 5-year-old Beau Brennen Belson has been found, police say.

Authorities confirmed with WZZM that crews found Belson's body Thursday in water near where he went missing.

WZZM reports the child went missing around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday from a home near N. Holland Road and Fleck Road. Beau was playing outside with another family member when they lost track of him.


The search continues for an endangered missing boy with autism near Six Lakes.

5-year-old Beau Brennen Belson, was last seen playing outside with family members around 2:30 p.m. on Christmas Day when he went missing. A search to locate Beau has been unsuccessful so far.

According to Michigan State Police, troopers and three canine units searched for the missing boy into the night, alongside the Moncalm Area Technical Team and numerous fire departments. The search also included the MSP helicopter.

Officials say they've had an overwhelming response from the community and have used volunteers to search in a 1-mile radius. They say they are not in need of anymore volunteers at this time.

Beau was last seen wearing gray-colored footie pajamas with dinosaurs, a blue jacket and black boots.

Crews will continue to search throughout the night as there are concerns of hypothermia and additional searches near swampy areas will continue.
