TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - All across the country people are celebrating National Farmer's Market Week.
It's also an opportunity to showcase local businesses.
Thursday in Tallahassee, the Southside Farmer's Market set up at the Walker-Ford Community Center.
There were free health screenings, cooking demonstrations, and fruits and vegetables for purchase.
One organizer expresses how important it is to make these businesses more aware to others.
"It's important because people need to realize what we have available right here in the city of Tallahassee," said Shirley Bouie, Southside Farmer's Market manager. "Tallahassee is a wonderful place to live and work in. We have so many businesses people are not aware of. Today we have some of the small businesses available selling their arts and crafts and different products."
This farmer's market will continue twice a month up to the last one of 2018 on December 13.
The next market is August 23, and then comes ones on September 13 and September 27, October 11 and October 25, and November 8 and 29.
