TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Many children and their parents in Tallahassee will march to The Capitol for National Day of Social Action.
WTXL ABC's Jada Williams was live Wednesay morning to share details about the focus of the events.
The march and demonstrations at the Capitol will take a look at the importance of voting.
For four years, the North Florida Freedom School has participated in this national event.
The Freedom School is a nonprofit summer program for students in the capital City.
More than 130 Child Scholars will participate in the march.
Following the march, there will be a demonstration called Harambee on the steps of the Historic Capital.
"This is something we do every morning at our site," said Tricia James, the project director of the North Florida Freedom Schools. "It's 30 minutes of high energy, a lot of fun, a lot of cheers and chants. Harambee is a swahali word for 'Let's pull together'. We just want everyone in our community to come out and get together and get really excited about these different issues."
The march starts at Brogan Plaza at 8:50 a.m. and ends at the Historic Capitol. The demonstration starts at 9:30 a.m.
Following this they will be holding a voter registration and simulation at Downtown Community Church, 231 E. Palmer Ave., from 10:30 a.m. - 12:15 p.m.
