TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Thursday was NASA's 'Day of Rememberance'.

It was a day to reflect on those who died while supporting NASA's missions.

It was also a day to honor the members of Apollo 1, Challenger, and Columbia.

WTXL spoke to Challenger Learning Center's communications manager about how special it is, to pay tribute to the fallen members.

"These astronauts are heroes. They laid down their lives for these missions. They really found such an importance in exploring space and new discoveries, and to really advance science, and that's something that should not be forgotten," said Samantha Reaves.

Across the country, all flags at NASA Headquarters and NASA centers were flown at half staff, in memory of those lost in the

cause of exploration.
