VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - The names of the two officers driving the patrol cars that crashed in Valdosta have been released.
The Valdosta Police Department says their Officer was Sergeant Jeremyah Jones who is currently doing fine after the accident.
Sergeant Craig Robey was the other officer involved in the crash according to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office. The office says Sergeant Robey was shaken up but was okay.
The crash happened Tuesday as the officers were rushing to help fellow officers who has been injured while pursuing 27-year-old Demetrius Nelson.
Police say Nelson had assaulted the officers and fled the area. Both Jones and Robey were traveling to assist in the Nelson incident when they crashed into each other at the intersection of East Gordon Street and North Troupe Street.
