TALLAHASSEE Fla.-- Ms. Wheelchair Florida visited Cascades Park to commemorate the 26th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act Tuesday morning.
Heather Taylor, Ms. Wheelchair Florida 2016, is on a 10-day tour of the state to advocate for people with disabilities.
Her last stop was in Tallahassee where the City and Leon County, in coordination with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities, welcomed her with a tour of Cascades Park.
Taylor says she is traveling all around the sunshine state, with hopes of continuing efforts to make Florida a fully inclusive state.
"This has allowed me to be a literal Roll Model, R-O-L-L model, there are young girls all the way up to full grown women that experience depression or some hopelessness because they're in a wheelchair," Taylor said "They feel confined, and what I'm trying to show them is that you don't have limitations, your four walls of your house, you can stay there or you can chose to soar above the clouds the sky's not even the limit."
City leaders say when Cascades Park was being built, they ensured the facility met all ADA requirements, and could be enjoyed by all visitors to Tallahassee.
