DADE CITY, FL — A bond hearing is underway right now for a second day inn the case of a retired Tampa police captain accused of shooting another man in a movie theater after an argument over sending a text message.

Curtis Reeves is charged with second-degree murder for killing 43-year-old Chad Oulson. Reeves has entered a plea of not guilty.

Authorities say Reeves was upset because Oulson was texting during the movie previews. The two men got into a verbal argument and Oulson threw his popcorn at Reeves.

Reeves, 71,  has been in jail since the shooting. If he is convicted, he could face a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison.

During the hearing this morning, an infrared video will be played in open court that shows the exact moment of the incident.
