Moultrie Police Help With Child Sex Sting Operation

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WTXL)-- 21 people from Georgia and South Carolina are indicted by a grand jury in Augusta, Georgia for seeking sex from children in an undercover police operation. 

The sting used social media accounts to identify suspects looking for sex with underage teens. Several of the suspects were arrested after they drove to sites where they expected to meet with children after making arrangements online. 

The charges stem from an operation launched in May. The charges file din the case include a solicitation of sexual contact with a child and criminal attempt to commit child molestation.

Those indicted range in age from 20 to 52. Additional charges are pending.

Several law enforcement agencies assisted in the sting operation including the Moultrie Police Department.
