MOULTRIE, GA. (WTXL) - A Moultrie man is shot during a home-invasion Sunday morning.

The incident happened around 12:15 a.m. in the 600 block of Fifth Street Southeast. According to the Moultrie Police Department, 45 year old Paul Harris was shot as he tried to hold a door closed as intruders tried to enter his bedroom during an apparent robbery attempt. The three robbers were able to get away with his wallet.

In an interview with the Moultrie Observer, Moultrie Police Department Investigator Raul Leal says, "It was three guys, forced entry to the house through the front door. They were trying to get in the bedroom where the victim was. Then one of the perpetrators fired a shot at Mr. Harris and hit him in the arm."

Harris was struck by a bullet that came through the bedroom door. 45 year old Peggy Carter who also was in the residence was not injured.

Police have no suspects but say all three perpetrators were black and had their faces covered.

Leal says, Harris was released from the hospital on Monday and is recovering at home.
