TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - One man is dead following a Tallahassee crash involving two motorcycles on Sunday.
The Florida Highway Patrol said that on Sunday around 6:20 p.m., a motorcycle driven by Joseph Lang, and another motorcycle, driven by Ian Shields, were both traveling west on US-90, at Daylily Lane.
They said that Lang lost control of his motorcycle and side-swiped Shields.
Shield's motorcycle then went towards the right, where it hit a curb. Troopers said that the motorcycle continued over the curb, leaving the road. The motorcycle ended up hitting the westbound traffic control signal pole at U.S. 90 and Buck Lake Road, ejecting Shields.
Troopers said that Lang was unable to regain control of his motorcycle, causing it to lay down on the left side, causing Lang to fall off.
The motorcycle continued to slide on its left side, westbound on US-90, until it came to final in the Mahan Petro gas station parking lot.
Shields was pronounced dead on scene, by Leon County E.M.S. Lang was transported to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by Tallahassee Police Department and Leon County EMS. The roadway remained closed for approximately six hours as the investigation was conducted.
