300 morphine pills seized, man arrested in Leon Co.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.  -- A tip from Leon County residents lead to the arrest of a man accused of trafficking and selling prescription drugs.

Detectives from the Leon County Sheriff's Office served the search warrant on Tuesday, March 19, at the Cedars West apartment complex on West Tharpe Street.

The search warrant was a concluding moment for an investigation that took place over several weeks. Detectives watched the suspect, 56-year-old William D. Smith, and say they made several undercover purchases from him over that time period.

Detectives reportedly found 300 pills of  the prescription medication  morphine in Smith's apartment.

Smith was arrested and charged with two counts of the Sale of Opium or Derivative within 1000 feet of a Child Care Facility and one count of Trafficking in Opium or Derivative.
