TALLAHASSEE, Fla.(WTXL)- It's the type of line you would expect to see at a Black Friday Sale.

Saturday, more than 100 parents waited for hours just to get their children registered for the Extend Day Enrichment Program at Killearn Lakes Elementary.

"Your strategy is that you get here early, real early. My wife got here at 7pm last night and I got here at 9pm and we brought a camper," said parent Brandon Meadows.

The line of parents extended from the front entrance of the school to the end of the building. The camp is open Monday through Friday from 7am to 5:30pm. The program offers student activities and field trips.

"The director is amazing and all the staff here are wonderful. I mean, I want my kid to be in an environment that's safe and loved and having fun," said parent Kristine Gregory.

The exclusive eight week camp only allows 65 spots per week to a program with around 300 children.

"We only have a limited number of spots on our bus," say Killearn Lakes Elementary Extend Day Enrichment Program Director Kathleen Pester.  "We wanna make sure everything is safe for the kids we need to make need to make sure we have the proper number of adult ratio to the kids on the bus."

School officials say they are continuously working on ways to get more buses, staff and funds so more students can get into program.

This was the first time Killearn Lakes Elementary held registration over the weekend. School officials and parents agree this years sign up event was smoother.
