LEON COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - In Georgia, voter turnout broke records, for both early voting and for day-of visits to the polls, however pint-sized ballot casters also broke records this year.
The numbers are in from Leon County's Kid's Voting Initiative.
More than 19,000 young citizens spoke up this election season, more than doubling the 2014 turn out.
Children cast their votes at polling locations during regular and early voting.
The outreach effort is meant to develop civic engagement and political interest in local young people.
