TALLAHASSEE, Fla.-- With the success of redevelopment in areas near downtown, the city has recognized a need for additional parking areas.
An amendment to, and revision of, the Land Development Code that will allow off street parking facilities has been proposed.
Community business owners raised concerns over the current lack of parking after a hotel developer purchased city property near Railroad Avenue and West Gaines Street.
Hannah Canonico, Assistant Manger at Goodies Eatery downtown, said "We get a ton of deliveries, as opposed to people walking in to come get food. Because we only have like seven spots right out front of our shop, so it's kind of inconvenient. You never know if there is going to be a spot or not so that probably has a little bit to do with whether or not we get business."
The Downtown Overlay Parking Ordinance is scheduled to be introduced before Tallahassee's City Commission on Wednesday, April 13th.
