SUWANNEE COUNTY, Fla. (WTXL) - Troopers have released the identities of those involved in a fatal accident on I-10 near U.S. 90.

The Florida Highway Patrol said that the accident happened around 2:45 p.m. on Thursday when Ronald Zimmerman was driving a semi-truck west on I-10 and attempted to change lanes.

When he did this, the car next to him, driven by Robert Hoye, swerved into the center grass median to avoid hitting Zimmerman.

Troopers said that Zimmerman swerved back into his lane and began to drive across the westbound lanes and into the center grass median. At the same time, they said that Hoye over-corrected and traveled across the westbound lanes behind the semi.

They said that they front right tire of Zimmerman's semi hit an embankment and overturned . Troopers said that Hoye was thrown from his pickup when his car ended up hitting a guardrail.

Hoye was pronounced dead on scene. Zimmerman was transported to Shands at Live Oak for serious injuries.

FHP said that charges in the crash are pending investigation.

The Florida Division of Emergency Management said that a large saddle tank came off the semi truck as well, releasing 85 to 100 gallons of diesel onto nearby CSX train tracks.

They said that no reported waterways or storm drains were impacted.
