More details in corrections officer stabbing at Wakulla Co. prison

CRAWFORDVILLE, Fla. (WTXL) - Wakulla County officials have confirmed that a corrections officer at the Wakulla Correctional Institute was stabbed Saturday.

The Florida Department of Corrections says that on July, 15, an inmate assaulted a correctional officer at Wakulla Annex.

They say Maurice Dorcent assaulted the officer at approximately 6:05 a.m, stabbing the officer in the back.

The inmate was subdued after the attack. 

The officer was injured but  is expected to make a full recovery. 

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is also conducting a criminal investigation and charges are pending against the inmate.
