VALDOSTA, GA (WTXL) - An airman from Moody Air Force Base has been sentenced to 12 years in prison on sexual abuse and child porn charges.
According to Moody Air Force Base officials, Staff Sergeant Troy Ecklund plead guilty on April 20 to two counts of sexual abuse of a child and three counts of producing, possessing and distributing child pornography.
According to the Lowndes County Sheriff's Office, Staff Sergeant Troy Ecklund was arrested in August on charges of child molestation. The charges came about after the FBI brought the sheriff's office a video allegedly showing Ecklund engaging in inappropriate actions with a child.
Ecklund was found guilty by a military judge on April 21, officials said. Ecklund was reduced to Airman Basic, dishonorably discharged and sentenced to 14 years in prison. Officials said Ecklund only has to serve 12 years due to a pretrial agreement.
