VALDOSTA, Ga. (WTXL)--Bomb sniffing dogs, their handlers and members of the 23rd Security Forces Squadron from Moody Air Force Base are honored Friday in Valdosta.

This all for their work, searching for bombs at Valdosta High School after a threat was called in.

It happened April 24th. To show their appreciation, the airmen were given these coins.

Airmen say the dogs are vital to missions like these.

"Before we are able to see anything that's buried in the ground or hidden in a wall, they'll find it and they'll alert us before hand to let us know if we're going into a dangerous area of trouble or possibly a trap," said Staff Sgt. Steven Daniel.

Twenty year old Kahlil Andrew Furman-Berrian was arrested for making the threat.
