TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - December 14 is World Monkey Day!
"World Monkey Day is a good day to do what National Geographic does everyday," said Dr. Catherine Workman, senior director of the Society's wildlife protection initiative.
Workman spent a year as an American Association for the Advancement of Science Policy Fellow in the Office of Forestry and Biodiversity at the U.S. Agency for International Development.
Workman says it's important to continue the conversation all year long. National Geographic does this by supporting standing organizations like the Jane Goodall Foundation, as well as their independent efforts.
Huge diversity exists in the primate family, and Workman was able to illustrate this with photos. National Geographic uses these photos to educate the public.
