MIAMI (WTXL) - A moment of silence was held for the people killed in last week's pedestrian bridge collapse near Florida International University.

It was held at 1:47 p.m. Monday, the time Thursday when the under-construction bridge fell, crushing cars below and killing six people.

It comes as students return to class.

The bridge was meant to connect the college campus with a neighborhood that is home to 4,000 of its students.

On Monday afternoon an attorney announced the first civil lawsuit related to the collapse. It has been filed against several parties involved in the construction and design of the bridge.
