TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- People took a trip back in time today to the 17th century world of Spanish soldiers and Apalachee warriors. It was part of an annual event hosted by Mission San Luis.
They invited the public to relive the late 1600s at the once western capital of Spanish Florida. The event included archery for all ages, demonstrations of blacksmithing, period cooking and archaeological research, followed by a famous Spanish playwright performed by Theatre with a Mission.
"We are absolutely wide open, Theatre with a Mission is, so is Mission San Luis, to people getting actively involved," said Artistic Director Ben Gunter. "Visit us, come to Mission San Luis, there are opportunities for you ever single day to do something extraordinary."
Mission San Luis is managed by several governmental agencies and is Tallahassee's only national historic landmark.
