MADISON COUNTY, FL (WTXL) - A missing 75-year-old woman with dementia was found Sunday morning by a K-9 unit after wandering into the woods, said the Madison County Sheriff's Office.
Around 1:30 a.m on Sunday, Madison County Sheriff's Office reported that they were dispatched to a residence located on US Hwy 19 in Madison County regarding a missing adult. Upon arrival, the woman's husband told deputies that while he was sleeping, his wife walked off and that she suffered from dementia.
According to MSCO, Leon County Sheriff's Office and Madison Correctional Institution's K-9 team were called in to assist in the search for the woman. After covering approximately nine-tenths of a mile in less than 30 minutes K-9, “Duke” picked up the scent and led authorities to the missing woman.
The woman sustained minor injuries and was taken to Madison County Emergency Services.
