TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)-- 51 community recreation projects will begin in Florida, after the Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program approved $2.4 million in funds.
Five of those projects will take place right here in North Florida. Live Oak, Liberty County, Greensboro, Chattahoochee, and Gretna are all recipients.
26 counties total will benefit from the funding.
The money will be used for developing land for public outdoor recreational purposes.
All of the projects were funded at $50,000 or less, and will have three years to be completed.
In Gadsden County, the money will go towards building picnic facilities and new playgrounds at Palm Street Park.
