MIDWAY, Fl. (WTXL) -- The City of Midway Police Department is holding its annual "Shop with a Cop" event on December 17th, hoping to bring holiday cheer to low-income children in the area.
When the program first began in 2013, funding covered the participation of only 6 children. For 2015, the department says many more children will be able to participate thanks to an influx of donations. The police department also says the program is all about giving back to the city's children, which is Midway's greatest asset.
"When we get our kids registered and signed up, [and] we're going to go and we're going to have fun", said Lt. Chris Daniels of the Midway Police Department. "So it's no time limit. We may be down there a couple of hours, we may be down all night, we're going to have fun."
To participate, you still have 5 days to fill out an application.
Any children not selected for this upcoming event will be placed at the top of the list for 2016's "Shop with a Cop" event.
