MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL)--Midway Police is taking part in a national effort, Click It or Ticket, to make sure people are buckled up over the Thanksgiving Holiday.
In Midway, the cost of a safety belt ticket is $111 and $162 for not having your a child restrained. Midway Police Chief Jerome Turner says if you're unbuckled you can expect to pay the fine.
“The statistics are really troubling,” said Chief Turner. “More than half of the passenger vehicle occupants killed in crashes are not wearing their seat belts. During this busy time on our highways, we see way too many preventable fatalities in crashes.”
Chief Turner says they are serious about the campaign because they've seen first-hand what happens when you're not strapped in.
