MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL) - Three Midway city officials are the subjects of recent complaints filed with the Florida Commission on Ethics.
Last week the commission dismissed five complaints by two residents, including former Police Chief Tom Murray.
WTXL ABC 27's Stephen Jiwanmall explains what several residents say are misuse of public position.
Despite the State Ethics Commission dismissing these complaints, residents say they'll do whatever it takes to hold their elected officials accountable.
We spoke to former Police Chief Tom Murray in June 2017, who had just gotten his job back as Midway police chief after threatening to sue the city when he was let go a few months earlier for insubordination.
But Murray says he was forced to resign in August by City Manager Leslie Steele.
In October, Murray filed complaints against Steele and Mayor Wanda Range regarding his resignation.
He says the mayor "coerced" him to resign and he was taken "by surprise."
Murray told us over the phone he doesn't want to comment on the complaints right now.
Nandrycka King Albert filed complaints against Steele and Councilman Samuel Stevens.
Her complaints revolve around using the city's fire station for unsanctioned activities. She claims private parties have been held there and city officials have kept their personal vehicles there.
