MIDWAY, Fla. (WTXL)-- The votes are in for a controversial election in the city of Midway tonight.
Despite protest earlier today, Mayor Pro-temp Charles Willis won against his opponent Samuel Stevens, 233-221 for district 4 city council seat.
Just last week a judge ordered to have Willis name removed from the ballot because Willis does not live in the district. Despite the judges order the council voted 4-3 to appeal the judges ruling last Tuesday night and keep Willis on the ballot.
After the appeal was made Samuel Stevens, his opponent, filed an emergency motion and then contacted the State Attorneys Office and asked them to investigate. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Midway Mayor and city council member Ella Barber also ran against Eria Caesar for district 2 city council seat. Caesar won over Barber with a 259-198 vote.
