PEMBROKE PINES, Fla. (AP) — Police say a Miami-Dade corrections officer was fatally shot inside his Pembroke Pines apartment.
Barbara Drummond tells the Sun Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1JTxsma ) she went to check on her son after he didn't show up for his shift on Friday afternoon. She found 40-year-old Cpl. Daveon Hall dead on the living room floor.
Investigators have classified the death as a homicide, but have released few details.
Drummond worked for Miami-Dade Corrections and Rehabilitation Department since 2000. Agency spokeswoman Janelle Hall says he was a supervisor for the department. The agency is cooperating with the police in the investigation.
Hall's death remains under investigation.
