MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - Cobb County prosecutors say a man convicted of assaulting his ex-wife and harassing her from jail has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
District Attorney's spokeswoman Kim Isaza says 50-year-old Lee Elvis Veasley pleaded guilty on Monday to four counts each of: aggravated assault and aggravated battery; two counts of aggravated sodomy; aggravated sexual battery; and false imprisonment.
Prosecutors say Veasley locked his ex-wife inside his apartment in January 2014, tied her to a bedframe and burned her with a screwdriver that he heated with a cigarette lighter.
The woman got a restraining order against Veasley and prosecutors say he arranged for a box containing a threatening note and a live rat to be sent to her while he was in the Cobb County jail.
