TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL)--In the wake of the deadly shooting December 14 in Newtown, Connecticut, some parents and doctors say they hope the tragedy will refocus the nation's attention on improving mental health services.

ABC News reports that those who knew the accused gunman, 20-year-old Adam Lanza, suffered from severe mental illness.

Dr. Huijun Li from Florida A&M University's Department of Psychology talks about the challenges of a family with a child with mental illness, the warning signs, and why getting help may not always be easy.
