ATLANTA (AP) — Federal prosecutors say two men have been sentenced on sex trafficking charges.

Authorities say 28-year-old Arturo Coyotl has been sentenced to 16 years and 43-year-old Odilon Rojas has been sentenced to 21 years and 10 months. Both men are from Tenancingo, Mexico.

Prosecutors say the men began romantic relationships with three women from Guatemala and Mexico and asked them to travel to the United States and work to build lives together. Authorities say after arriving in America they told the women they were in the country illegally, owed a smuggling debt and had to repay it by working as prostitutes.

Authorities say the women were victimized in Georgia and Alabama and escaped in 2007 and 2008. A third defendant has pleaded guilty and a fourth is a fugitive.
