MARIANNA, FL (WTXL) - The Dozier Task Force has started it's first meetings to create a memorial honoring the children who attended the Arthur G. Dozier School for Boys.

The Marianna school located 60 miles west of Tallahassee was closed in 2011. Some former students have accused school officials of physical and sexual abuse. Researchers unearthed dozens of bodies buried there as well.

The task force's first meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 10 a.m. The meeting is expected to begin with a vote by task force members to approve an agenda, according to a press release.

The Florida Division of Historical Resources said that the Dozier Task Force was tasked with finding ways to create and maintain the new memorial. The task force is also charged with recommending a location for the reburial of the remains found during a forensic investigation.

They must submit their final proposal to state officials by October 1st.

Another meeting has been scheduled for August 19 at 10 a.m. in Marianna City Hall.
