MEIGS, GA (WTXL) - The mayor pro-tem of Meigs has been arrested, accused of changing the locks on the police department, one week after he tried to fire the police chief.

City officials tell us Jimmy Layton changed the locks on the building Tuesday morning.

Since the building holds Georgia crime information, Layton is not authorized to change the locks.

He's turned himself into the Thomas County Jail, and recently bonded out. He's also wanted for a warrant in Mitchell County for obstructing an officer.
